September 21 – December 31, 2010

Thank you to everyone who entered our haiku contest to celebrate the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair 50th Anniversary (April 21st – October 21st, 2012). The contest was sponsored and judged by the Haiku Society of America.

The theme for the Haiku contest was: Sustainability. The Pacific Northwest has a wealth of knowledge and passion to pave the way for a sustainable future – from Native American wisdom to the climate change initiatives, from cyclists to kayakers, from green builders to master gardeners, from biofuels to organic foods. In May of 2012 the 50th Anniversary Celebration will focus on sustainability and big bold ideas to meet the environmental challenges ahead.

Congratulations to our contest winners

  1. Is this where we submit the two haiku for the contest?

  2. Hey Joey,

Click the “Take Me to the Contest” button above, then click the “Enter the Contest” button to begin the process to submit your haiku.

  3. I submitted 2 Haiku’s under same heading ‘Earth Mother Endures’. Should I have submitted each separately? ron

  4. Either will work Ron. We’ll make sure both your entries are included in the contest.

  5. Hi Kathy,

I’ve deleted your personal story. We are having some technical problems with our haiku upload form, but know that your submission is accepted and will be included in the contest.

    Thanks!

  6. Who won??

  7. Entries are now posted here on our website, and have been sent to the judges at the Haiku Society of America.

Thanks to all 112 entries we received! The winner will be announced by the end of the month.

TBurley: I noticed that one individual submitted four haiku while the rest of our submitted the requested two. I’m just saying . . .

  9. Thanks Kathy. We have noted that and have passed the entire batch along to the Haiku Society of America to judge. They are aware of the rules, and will likely take that into account. We’re just the messengers! :-)
